A Sky Older Than Us is an abstract motion piece inspired by a stargazing experience at the Grand Canyon Star Party, an annual gathering for amateur astronomers and visitors.

On a dark summer night at the Grand Canyon, I observed the stars through a telescope for the first time and realized what I had been missing during years of city living. Light pollution in urban environments has pushed the beauty of the night sky out of our daily lives. Seeing the light of stars that began their journey millions of years ago, I was reminded of how small we are in comparison to the universe. This experience became the starting point for this project. Through abstract forms and celestial symbols, the piece reflects on the relationship between human order and cosmic infinity.

This work is an invitation to look up at night and reconnect with a sky that is older than us.

The project was created in Cinema 4D and edited in After Effects.
